Creating an induction, course, or learning module
Who is this article for?
Administrators that need to create a learning.
Administrator access is required.
This article explains how to create and configure learning modules, including inductions and courses, with questions, content, and associated skills.
1. Understanding learning permissions
Before creating learning modules, familiarise yourself with the three key permission levels:
- Create / Manage Learning – create learning modules with questions, content, and associated skills
- View / Assign / Update Learning – check users' learning statuses and assign or update them
- View Learning – view all historical learning submissions by users
2. Creating a new learning module
To create a new learning module:
- Click the +Create button.
Alternatively, select an existing module from the list and click the pencil icon to edit it.
3. Configuring initial settings
To configure the learning module settings:
- Enter a Name for the learning module as it will appear to users.
- Select a Category for filtering and search purposes.
- Set the Passing Score (out of 100) – the percentage of points needed to pass.
- Tick Don't apply pass/fail if you want to ignore the passing score (the user's score will show as N/A and always pass).
- Tick Active to make the learning module visible to users.
- Tick Mandatory if completion is required for compliance.
- Tick Allow Company Approval if contractor companies must approve it first.
- Tick To be reviewed if a supervisor with specific role permissions must approve it.
- Tick Allow Location if users should select a location when completing the learning.
- Configure Locations and Skills together to automatically assign the learning to users who have both the specified skills and locations.
- Add a Description if needed.
- Configure the Scheduler Section (Repeat, Every, Remind) to schedule repeated learning at specified intervals with reminders.
- Click Save.
Note: Question points are automatically calculated from the total possible questions. For example, if the passing score is 50 and there are 20 questions worth 1 point each, the total is 20/20 – the passing score would be 50% of that (10/20).
After saving, you can start designing the learning content.
4. Creating learning sections
To create sections within your learning module:
- Go to the Section panel.
- Click the Create button.
- Enter a name and description to assist with navigation.
- Click Save.
5. Creating learning content
To add content to your learning module:
- Go to the Content panel.
- Click the Create button.

- Click Save.
6. Adding file download links

- Select File Type: Content.
- Fill in the other details.
- In the content box, type text such as "Please download a copy of this file" or "Click here to download".

- Click Ok to add the download link.
- Tick Needs to be Agreed.
- Add text to inform users to download the file, such as "I have downloaded this file".
Users will be prompted to confirm they have downloaded the file before proceeding:
7. Creating learning questions
You can create the following question types:
- Yes/No – the user must choose between a yes or no answer
- True/False – the user must select whether something is true or false
- Multiple Choice – Single correct answer – only one correct answer out of multiple options
- Multiple Choice – Multiple correct answer – more than one answer can be correct (tick the box beside each correct answer)
- Multiple Choice – Weighted answer – answers can be weighted according to the correctness of each possible answer
- Descriptive – the user can type a personalised, written answer in response to the question
When creating a question, you can configure the following options:
- Mandatory – makes it mandatory to answer the question
- Comments – make comments mandatory or simply allow them
- File Upload – make a file upload mandatory or simply allow it (useful for questions requiring certificates or other relevant documents)
- Allow Create Task – assign a task related to the question (you can select the task type, assign it to a user, insert a description, select a start date, add comments, select priority, and update the task's status)
